It was my first trip for a long period of time far away from home, and first big experience in work. “Why Not USA” program gave me a possibility to come to United States, and to experience some new things and also to explore new places in our world.
When my friends and I arrived to New York our emotions overfilled us. Therefore, through 15 minutes I understood that I should call the man who was supposed to meet us. It was first time using my English skills, in which I felt I wasn't sure that time. Although, I found a man who gave me his phone to call.
Finally somebody came to pick us up for one night. We spent this night at the Brighton Beach and we didn’t sleep, we were full of emotions. In the morning the girls that were with me and I went on Grayhound bus station, and in the evening we arrived to Ocean City.
A new adventure expected us. We arrived on the outskirts of the city, we didn’t know where to go or what to do. We couldn’t call to the employer or to the office “Cetusa”, because it was too late.
So, we decided to go and find some motel for one or two nights to sleep. We did it. Next day we found office “Cetusa” and our work place.
I was working in a restaurant “Jonah and the Whale” as a busboy – it was not so hard, however, my tasks included: clean the tables, chairs, and take dirty dishes to the kitchen. In our restaurant the staff and coworkers were all friendly to each other.
We always hung out together with coworkers, made some party, spend free time in pool, or went to the beach.
It was very amazing and gorgeous to see the sunrise mornings on the beach, as well as big and sound waves rolling back and forth. It's hard to explain using words, the best way would be to feel by yourself the amazement of all that.
Started to be difficult when I found a second job. I needed a second job because I wanted to make more money for the trip and return back to my parents.
I found the second job in the motel. My work included: to sweep parking, repair air conditionals, dump trash, clean a pool. It was better for me to earn much more money for my entertainments.
Also I have a lot of adventures in USA. I got under a hurricane "Irene" and we were evacuated for four days, in the nearby state, city Baltimore. This evacuation was very good organized. We lived in a gymnasium, slept on berth and hid from a hurricane. This gave me some time to rest from work. We spend time not doing anything. All days everybody were laying on them berthes, playing poker, chess, listening to the music, and etc.
During a summer I also had time to visit Washington DC, Niagara Falls, and New York City. It was really amazing to see these places. In Washington I visited FBI building, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, White house, and a lot of museums. Trip to Niagara Falls was also very interesting. We had a lot of excursions and free time to spend there. I was very satisfied with the trip. This trip to USA gave me a chance to improve my English, it’s easier and faster way to learn it there. Find new friends from many countries of the world. Also there were many moments, when life was saturated and interesting. Possibility to go to the USA, it's not only possibility to earn money and rest. It is to feel the independent life, in other terms you are making decision by yourself and know how to do it in better way. It is big experience for you. You become more independent and more adult.
